The Manara Regional Center for Coexistence, under the chairmanship of Dr Ali, launched its first global event this month at the Parliamentary Conference on Interfaith Dialogue titled “Working Together for Our Common Future.” The session “Building Bridges of Understanding: Fostering Interfaith Coexistence and Inclusive Communities,” was held in collaboration with the Abrahamic Family House in Abu Dhabi.
With the aim of introducing regional solutions to regional challenges, the session, held in Marrakech, brought together religious leaders from various faiths. It sought to explore different strategies used to promote coexistence and acceptance among diverse communities, while emphasizing collaborative approaches to foster interfaith coexistence and overcome obstacles. The session underscored the important role of religious leaders as ambassadors of tolerance, promoting acceptance and peaceful coexistence. It also highlighted the joint efforts of religious leaders and parliamentarians in influencing peace and coexistence, showcasing collaborative initiatives in establishing interfaith dialogue and fostering coexistence as significant tools for promoting religious harmony. Success stories were shared wherein religious leaders established peaceful dialogues, promoted interfaith cooperation, and upheld international human values.
The event was attended by a group of well known experts in the field of interfaith dialogue, coexistence and tolerance. Dr. Abdulla Al Shehhi, the Executive Director of the Abrahamic Family House Abu Dhabi, moderated the session. Attendees included: Dr. Usama Al Azhari, Advisor to the President of the Arab Republic of Egypt for Religious Affairs; Reverend Bishoy Fakhri, Patron of St Antony Cathedral; Rabbi Matanya Yadid, Co-Director of Mosaica’s Religious Mediation Initiative; Venerable Ming Hai, Vice President of the Buddhist Association of China; Goswami Sushil Maharaj, National Convener of Bhartiya Sarv Dharm Sansad; and Surender Singh Kandhari, Chairman of Guru Nanak Darbar Gurudwara for the Sikh community in Dubai.
